Job description:
An energetic individual who wants to be on a team that is at the cutting edge of Unix technologies supporting a growing business. We employ a wide range of technologies from blade servers, Oracle SPARC/Intel to large servers with a wide range of UNIX operating systems, multiple clustering technologies, and SAN and NAS storage. We are seeking an individual who can work independently with little to no supervision, can make a contribution to a diverse technical team and wants to grow with new technologies. Unix System Administrator, Information Services and Technology, to help manage 300+ servers running Solaris, Linux operating systems for Semiconductor manufacturing applications (Factory Automation).
Duties:
- Install software, apply patches, manage file systems, monitor performance and troubleshoot alerts from commercial, open source and locally developed monitoring tools
- System failure analysis and recovery
- Hardware/software configuration and management
- Technical support and general troubleshooting
- Support 300+ servers in a team within a 24×7 data center operation
Required Technical Skills:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of Solaris, Linux and a SAN/NAS environment
- Experience with system management tools in a client/server environment
- Hardware configuration knowledge
- Shell programming expertise
- Network experience
- System troubleshooting skills
Qualifications:
- Oracle/SUN Solaris, Linux.
- Knowledge of NAS and SAN technologies is a plus.
- Knowledge/experience of UNIX server SPARC and x86 hardware components.
- Scripting skills in one of the following; shell scripting, Python or PERL is a plus
- Documentation and communication skills
