Your Role
We are searching for a smart and passionate software engineer to join our Platform team in Zurich, Switzerland.
The Platform team is one of the engineering pillars of our company, responsible for critical components, such as data ingestion, monitoring, quality and retrieval. Positioned at the foundation of the technology stack, the Platform team also takes the lead on several initiatives that impact the whole engineering team, such as CI/CD pipelines, automation, engineering workflows and, in general, new technologies. In Platform we believe in high availability and scalability, and we create solutions leveraging state-of-the-art technologies including (but not limited to) Apache Mesos/Marathon, Kubernetes, Ceph, Apache Spark and Flink.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Operating and maintaining our data analytics platform that currently processes more than 100 billion events every day
- Developing Scala, Flink and Spark pipelines and APIs, operating on terabytes of location-based data across several geographies
- Contributing to both bare-metal and cloud-based solutions, leveraging state-of-the-art technologies, tools and methodologies
- Working together with a multi-disciplinary team of Software Engineers and Data Scientists to create scalable enterprise-grade solutions
Your Profile
You are a passionate software engineer with a keen interest in functional programming, automation and software development, and are excited to learn and apply the latest techniques in location analytics.
Must-have qualifications:
- Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- Academical knowledge on large-scale data-oriented systems or applications
- Experience in JVM-based languages
Preferred skills:
- Software development experience with Scala
- Experience with streaming technologies such as Apache Spark Streaming, Apache Flink and Apache Kafka
- Experience developing, deploying, and managing distributed applications on cloud platforms
- Experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
