This is your opportunity to join a new, technically highly challenging project from day one and be involved in the creation of a new application from scratch. The hiring company is operating in the FinTech sector and grows to 20-30 employees in the coming months. It is backed by business angels and venture capital firms from Berlin and lead by a team of experienced entrepreneurs. You will be part of the full development cycle and work with the best talents in the industry. We seek experts that belong to the best in their field and are looking for a great business model, a motivated team and a true start-up-flair in the heart of Frankfurt. Besides building the application, developing the user interface and prototyping, the team is heavily involved in big data and complex algorithms.
Your Role:
- You are responsible for the backend of our new FinTech venture
- You work in a small team of specialists
- You create, develop and maintain backend services, coordinate internal and external designers and match requirements with business/product development and product roadmap
- You set up deployment infrastructures, server environments and testing infrastructure and you maintain and improve them
- You take ownership over specific components and continuously work to improve them
- You are proactive and pay attention to the scalability, performance and availability of our systems
- You take responsibility to ensure successful results
- You stay on top of current industry trends
Our Requirements:
- You bring 4+ years of relevant working experience within the field of web development and software engineering, ideally on medium and large size projects extending over a period of 6 months plus
- Excellent knowledge of backend development and technologies, particularly Ruby on Rails
- Good knowledge in backend infrastructure technologies like Linux, AWS, Continuous Integration/Delivery, Capistrano, Passenger, unicorn, nginx, chef, Docker
- Prior experience with source control tools – Git, Github
- Loves working in an Agile environment (e.g. Scrum, Kanban)
- Entrepreneurial drive to create successful products
- Ability to work and communicate in a fast paced international start-up environment
- Disciplined approach to automated testing and quality assurance
- Very good communication skills, high proficiency in English
- Alternatively good experience on medium or large sized projects
