Visual Meta GmbH is an innovative e-commerce company based in the heart of Berlin, which has grown rapidly since being founded in 2009. In 2011 our company was acquired by the Axel Springer Group, Germany’s leading publishing house.
We run shopping platforms named LadenZeile and ShopAlike worldwide, offering fashion, furniture and a variety of other products to our users. Our service is used by thousands of daily visitors and an ever-increasing number of partner shops.
We are looking for java developers (m/f) on a full-time basis to help us extending and scaling the product crawler for our leading shopping comparison platforms worldwide. We deal a lot with data mining and analysis, large databases, images, search technologies, machine learning and web technologies. We code stuff that matters and reaches millions of people. Our technology stack is plain Java, MySQL, Hadoop, HBase, Spring, GWT, Eclipse and Tomcat.
Your profile:
· University degree in computer science or related university degree
· At least 2 years of working experience in programming with Java
· Strong understanding with database systems such as MySQL
· Skilled knowledge about GWT is a plus
· Eager to learn new technologies and extend knowledge
· Highly motivated and love writing software
· Analytical mindset with a kick-ass “getting things done” mentality
· Fluent in spoken and written English
Your responsibilities:
· Integrating the crawler into our platform
· Developing features for the crawler in order to increase usability and performance
· Scaling the crawler over our server cluster
· Controlling the service integration and ensuring its functionality
